Project 3090 and french quarter beaches

hey UPstarts - we will be participating in Project 3090 - an Intersection of Sound and Sustainability - Saturday Sept 5th - see lineup below and click link for more info
we will also be celebrating miss Jillian Gibsons 40th at the fest - so look out for the party..

also wanted to show you a picture of the new beach that has appeared in the french quarter equipped with seagulls and waves ... so head on down with your bucket and spade

What a great white linen night we had this year and im sure y'all never got to see even half the art you wanted - well just as well the exhibits last all month! so first stop to check out some of UP's new Trashfromations @ the CAC ."Unmasking possibities" - An expoloration of Cancer through Art .

UP had a pleasure of working with Devan Michel Keller a new orleans native who suffers from Gleoblastomia a form of brian tumour - Devon built the "face" part of this sculpture and UP created the rest , after being on view at CAC till Aug21st it will then be auctioned of at the Hope Gala in aid of the American Cancer Society @ Canal Place on August 22nd 2 8pm - see inset for details

Also on exhibit at the CAC - Arts of the Enviroment - Heather taught "earth" week at this fun summer camp where the kids studied African mudcloth ( mixing their own mud paint the 5-8 year olds loved that) , modern day fossils created with impressions into clay then cast in plaster and then papermaking - so lots of messy earthy fun - the kids work will be on exhibit on the oval gallery till Sept 4th so stop by and check it out ...

Summer Camp with UP/ Unique Products

hey Upstarts , hope your summer is bringing lots of time to relax and soak up the rays meanwhile Heather has been busy teaching summer camp - first camp ( Country Day Creative Arts) is finishing this week with a wonderful festival and everyone is invited! fun for artists of all ages , great for art educators and community groups as this festival offers a huge array of amazing creative ideas lead by artists from all over the country.

this fun annual festival held on the bank of Bayou St John features 2 stages of music , food and drink, art market , health and wellness area , kids tent and also this year an ECO AREA

and that's where you'll find our T- Party - come to our workshop tent located with the other recycling artists in the Eco area on the banks of the Bayou and transform an old t- shirt into a stylish new item of clothing or accessory .

T-Party workshop will be using SOLAR POWERED sewing machines and creating wonderful fun items from recycled t-shirts - which you can then flaunt on the catwalk!! on the main stage in a fashion show before the last band!!

So bring your old T or we will provide and make a great new item of clothing / bag or other accessory!!
